Fluoride Treatment

Dentist brushing child patient's teeth with fluoride treatmentWe recommend that children have a fluoride treatment twice a year to help fight against tooth decay as they learn to develop good homecare habits and as their permanent dentition develops.

Sometimes, adults can also be assisted with in-office fluoride treatments if they are more prone to cavities. Prescription fluoridated toothpaste or fluoridated rinses can also be excellent options to help prevent cavities on an ongoing basis.

Other indications for necessary increased fluoride exposure would be for patients with dry mouth and chemotherapy/radiation therapy patients.

Fluoride can also be a great tool to combat tooth sensitivity. Using fluoride products like rinses and prescription toothpastes daily can help with general cold sensitivity. In-office fluoride treatments just after you have had your cleaning will also help reduce generalized sensitivity.
